Damson Madder

Commissioned by fashion brand Damson Madder to create a knitted stop-frame animation to celebrate the launch of their AW25 collection. I reimagined their best-selling Cecily Cardigan, crafted from 100% RWS-certified lambswool, and brought it to life through animation.

To create the animation, I produced a scaled-down version of the cardigan, using a finer lambswool, I then translated the original pattern so it could be knitted in miniature while retaining the same level of accuracy and detail.

Every frame was individually knitted and photographed, with the bunny subtly repositioned to create the illusion of motion, a handcrafted, analogue process that highlights the artistry of both knit and animation.

peek behind the scenes…

Below is a short video where I talk a bit about the process and show some of the key frames from the animation. Each scene was created frame by frame, swapping out the knitted jumper panel between shots, a slow but magical way to bring the design to life. This process allowed the knitted bunny to move fluidly, frame by frame, capturing the warmth and tactility of real knit in motion.
